Where Do I Start?

I purposely waited for a while before I wrote today's match review, simply because I was In such a bad mood earlier It would have probably consisted mainly of swear words and I don't expect much of it would have made sense. Nevertheless I expect this will possibly have one of my lowest 'read counts' to date - and I'm not really surprised!

Where do I Start? I guess the one positive we can take out of the shambolic display today Is that as usual the crowd was fantastic! As I said In yesterdays preview the atmosphere at The Lane on new years day was pretty pants, well today was the complete opposite. Apart from a few token efforts the Fulham support was woeful, even at 4-0 the yids were still making all the noise! Good job!

However when your one positive Is the crowd making a lot of noise you know you have problems! The first 10 minutes looked promising but then there was an implosion of epic proportions, with Dawson the one to pull the trigger! It was a harsh sending off, In fact I would go as far as to say that Phil Dowd got it plain wrong but Its not the point. This was the moment our game died, we could have got back into It, even at 2-0. Our confidence was shot though and our game just fell to pieces.

I could go into a huge amount of detail about how and what each player done wrong but there really Is no point, not one of them played with any passion, energy, care and confidence. It was simply appalling.
I have to say fair play to Fulham though, Its easy to say that we were simply terrible (which we were) but the other team has to take advantage of that - Fulham to their credit seized their opportunity and we were lucky in the end for it to be only 4.

As such I'm not going to bother rating the players today as they simply don't deserve It.

So that's the FA Cup gone for another year and with It our chances of domestic silverware. Again we have to focus now on getting that fourth spot, It could end up being a blessing in disguise but I would have much preferred us to go on a cup run! There is the silver lining though of The Champions League so Its not all doom and gloom, we have a hard tie against AC but I remain quietly confident that we can progress further In the competition.

So what have we learned today? These are my thoughts:

1. We need a striker. Badly. I've been saying It for a while but as every game goes by it becomes more apparent, hopefully this result doesn't deter any of the big names and with any luck Harry can do something before the window closes.
2. Niko is much better than Pienaar. Yes the South African has only played two games but we have watched him In the Premiership for a while now. I said It when we signed him and I stand by It that Niko should be ahead of Pienaar In the squad.
3. We are still a work In progress. Yes the club is most certainly on the up, both In stature and the style of play but results like this prove that some of 'the old Tottenham' Is still present. Its easy to get carried away but hopefully this Is just 'one of those games'.
4. The majority of Spurs fans really are anti-Stratford. Hopefully Levy will realise that It Isn't just a 'very small number' of people who are opposed to it, especially after the chanting and banners today. This may have been detrimental to the game today but It got the point across.
5.Going out in The Cup really hurts. Anyone who says The FA Cup doesn't matter any more Is talking rubbish and deserves a slap!

Bring on Blackburn.
