Looking forward to Stoke

The telly was getting a heavy volly of abuse at this moment
Hands up if you felt pretty dejected on Wednesday morning...Yup same here.

A game that promised so much fell apart pretty quickly and ended up 4-0 to 'Los Blancos', Crocuhies sending off on 14 minutes pretty much sealed it for us. We fought well but holding out for 75 minutes with 10 men away from home at The Bernabaeu was always going to be a bloody hard task.

We didn't deserve to lose 4-0 but football doesn't always give you what you deserve, after 80 minutes we were pretty shot and a couple more were always on the cards.
I could go into this in huge depth, there are clearly a number of talking points: What was the deal with Lennon? JENAS?? Why take off VdV at half time for Defoe when the aforementioned should have given way? What was Crouchie thinking? Where were the defenders for the second?

However I wont, simply because you all would have by now seen the game and made your own opinions, we all felt pretty shit on Wednesday and I don't want to prolong that anymore then I have to. The end result is that barring a pretty intense miracle, we are all but out of The Champions League. That being the case I just hope the squad come out all guns blazing at the home leg and get stuck into Real, sod all this defending lark, let's go and get a few goals - even if we go out lets beat them and give Europe something to think about!

I for one am an immensely proud Spurs fan at the moment, in our debut Champions League campaign we have done fantastically, not only that but we are now pretty well regarded around Europe! COYS!

Celebrating after scoring against Stoke last time round
So what about today then? Well its a return to the Premier League with an arguably more important match than next weeks match against Madrid. We today face Stoke at home and we will be crying out for a win, top four is a MUST and 3 points today is a necessity for that. I think dropping points today would test even my optimism!

Stoke have had a pretty up and down season so far, they currently sit 11th in the table and come to The Lane on the back of a 1-1 draw with Chelsea - morale will therefore be pretty good. However they have won just two of their last 9 games, losing 5 of them and drawing the other 2. Last time out we beat them 2-1 thanks to 2 goals from Bale - yes including THAT volly! However this was right at the beginning of the season and an awful lot has happened since then!

As we all know the Tottenham squad is rather fragile at the moment, with a number of first team players on the injury list. The good news is that Kaboul is back for selection after knee and thigh injuries, this is a godsend really as defensively we are pretty screwed at the moment! He may well even start depending on Corluka, who picked up a knock against Madrid. This would be a last resort however, I don't think Harry will want to throw him straight back into the mix.
Lennon is touch and go as well, personally I think he'll start but stranger things have happened - his exit before the Madrid game being one of them!

I do think that Harry will play about a bit with the team after midweek so expect a few changes, for example I have a sneaky feel that Hudd will make a welcome return. So what about a team then?? I'm going for:

                                                                     Gomes
                                          Corluka/Kaboul - Dawson - Gallas - BAE
                                             Lennon - Huddlestone - Modric - Bale
                                                                       VdV
                                                                   Defoe/Pav

This could even be changed and a 4-4-2 implemented, would be interesting and quite nice to see but we'll have to wait until later I guess! Either way a win today please Spurs, we all need something to smile about and its been a while since we last saw a Tottenham victory!

So what about our immediate rivals then?
Chelsea v Wigan (Sat) - After their defeat against United I see Chelsea winning this one comfortably.
Blackpool v Le Scum (Sun) - I'm actually going for a draw in this one
Liverpool v City (Mon) - A hard game to call, we all hope for a Liverpool win really to help us out however this depends on out own result really!

The biggies here are obviously the Chelsea and City games, with any luck we can win convincingly and the other two can cock up big time, we need some luck and this would be most welcome!

COYS!
